Wedding Dress Donation

I have been so crazy the last couple of years this project has fallen to the back burner.  I am finally feeling like I can start this back up again so here goes.
I have had a few people ask about donating wedding dresses.  This is something we could use and will be able to bless many families. I will also take donations of any white fabric in any form, blessing dresses, prom dresses, temple dresses etc.  If you have a dress you would like to donate you can email me at honoringemma@gmail.com and we can arrange a time to pick it up.  I am in Logan, Utah but have family all along the Wasatch Front that could pick it up as well.  We are also on Facebook so like the page and share it with your friends.  You can reach me through that page as well.  Emma's Ensembles

Birthday Time

I am so sorry for the lack of posts.  We were blessed with a beautiful baby boy in May and all my time and attention has been taken up by him.    Emma's birthday is on Friday and thanks to so many people we have a few dresses to take up to the hospital. We are so excited to be able to help in a small way ease the burden on these grieving families.
I have had a lot of people ask how they can help.  We need whatever you can give.  If you can give monetarily that is great.  If you have time we need help with cutting out fabric, sewing the dresses and embellishing them.  We have also been able to get a pattern for boys that is so cute.
It has been so healing to be able to serve those who are in the same situation I am.  Thank you to all of you who have been willing to help in any way.  It means so much that you are willing to sacrifice your time to help those in need.
HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY EMMA!!!

THANK YOU!!

We have received some beautiful dresses from so many people as well as monetary donations.  We have been able to help so many families with these.   Thank you to all who have been willing to donate toward this great cause.  It means so much to be able to honor all of these precious angels.
The unfortunate thing is we are running low on supplies and dresses.  I wish we could create a stock pile and keep it as that would mean no one was having to deal with this loss.  The reality is this is happening and we need to help in any way that we can to ease the burdens of these families.
You ask well what can I do?  Well if you can donate money that will help us buy the fabric and trim we need for the dresses.  We also donate money to families who may need sizes that we don't have to go and buy a dress.  If you want to donate fabric or trim we take that as well.  We only need about a 1/4 of a yard per dress so even the tiniest little bit helps.  If you don't live close email me and I can give you my address so you can send it off.  We also need helping hands to sew.  I have an awesome friend who has helped make a pattern so if you have the ability I can send you the pattern and you can sew as many as you would like.  I also had a friend who crocheted some beautiful dresses so if you can do that that is awesome.
We started doing a girl's night up in my area and we have had a blast.  We get together and chat, eat and sew all night.  It is so much fun to get away from everything and just enjoy a night out with the girl's.  So plan a get together with lots of yummy goodies and plan to have a night of fun and service.
If you know of anyone who has experienced the birth of an angel please let them know about us.  We want to help out as many as we can to honor their precious angel.
Thank you again to everyone who has helped thus far.  The outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming.

A Challenge

There is an opportunity coming up that will only happen one more time for the next century.  What is that you ask?  A date where all of the numbers are the same, 11-11-11.  I really wanted to do something awesome on this day, something that would be monumental.  Then I came up with the perfect idea: 11 dresses for Emma's Ensembles on 11-11-11.  Our sew fun girl's night is all set up and ready to roll.
This is where all of you come in.  I want to challenge all of you to get your girlfriends together on this date, make tons of treats and sew like crazy.  Everyone wants a girl's night out and this is a night when your spouse or significant other would have a hard time saying no to you going.  I mean honestly just say, "Honey I have a night of service on November 11th."  Do you think they will say no?
Who is willing to take on this challenge with me?

Mission Accomplisheed

Back in August I was feeling very overwhelmed at how I was going to accomplish my goal of 10 dresses. It seemed like a daunting task since I couldn't sew and I didn't have any supplies. I had a thought to ask a friend in my LDS ward if she could help me sew a dress for Emma. I wanted at least one dress sewn by me. After our discussion we decided to make it into a girls night. That led to two girl's night since we had so many people wanting to help and so many supplies that were donated. I unfortunately didn't have my camera on the first night but we had 6 ladies come and help us sew and we got 5 dresses done. The 2nd girls night we 8 people come and we finished 8 dresses for a total of 14 dresses. It was so fun to get together with friends and to honor my sweet baby. It truly meant a lot to me to have them come and spend time to honor Emma. I also had a college roommate who wanted to help and her whole family helped make dresses. She gave me 3 of them and she told me they have 30 cut out ready to sew. I was shocked she had so many done. I was so thrilled to be able to take 6 dresses to the mortuary, 7 to the hospital and still have 3 in my stash at home to replenish the supplies. I truly hope they don't get used often but I am glad they will be there to ease the burden of a family who was blessed with an angel. Thank you to everyone who helped me accomplish this goal. It would have not happened without all of you so THANK YOU!!

THANK YOU!!

I just wanted to say thank you to those who have been willing to donate to Emma's Ensembles. Some of our dear friends were blessed with an angel this week. When he called me I was so grateful we had the money to be able to pay for a dress for his daughter. It is so hard to see others having to walk this road but I am so glad we are able to ease their journey just a little bit.
I also wanted to say a big thank you to Little Things Mean a Lot in American Fork, Utah. I have bought both of my boys blessing outfits there and loved their selection. It also helps that they are only a couple of blocks from the mortuary we are working with. When our friends went in to buy their angel's dress Little Things sold it to them at wholesale. She said they are not going to make money on someone's heartache. I was so happy to hear that. If you are down in Utah County please stop in this store and support them. They have darling clothes and they are great people.
To our dear friends, we love you and will continue praying for you. To those who have donated and are in the process of sewing, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. Thanks for honoring not only my angel daughter but all those other angels out there as well.

Sizes and such

I have had a few people ask me what sizes we are looking for and if there are any specifics. We honestly want to focus more on the micro-preemie size, 20-26 weekers, as those gowns are nearly impossible to find at a store for boys and girls. I found this chart online that will give you an idea of the size of these little ones. Chart We will take anything you are willing to donate as I am sure we can find a need for all of them. Also it is best if the back is open as it is easier to dress the little ones that way. You can either do Velcro or a snap just on the back of the dress. If you are looking for a pattern you can google micro-preemie sewing patterns and there are several free sites out there. You could also use a doll pattern as well. If you are local I have the dress the hospital put Emma in when she was born that I can let you use to create a pattern. Just email me and I can get it to you.
Here are some pictures of Emma's gown to give you an idea of what we are thinking:

Thank you for being willing to donate!!
